More About Me
My approach
When it comes to therapy, I adopt a goal-oriented approach where, together, we explore your goals and how I can support you as an active partner in that process. I believe that each client is the expert of their own life, and I work to understand my clients by asking many questions and building a strong rapport. Research says that the therapeutic alliance is one of the strongest predictors of therapy success. I believe this wholeheartedly, and I encourage clients to share what they need from me, how we can best work together, and how I can adjust our plan to better support their growth. Clients often tell me I’m easy to talk to, warm, and understanding.
What to expect when working with me
I like to be honest with my clients in addressing areas that I feel may be important, and I believe that patience, vulnerability and collaboration are all crucial factors in the process of psychotherapy. I also believe that in therapy, moving slowly is often moving fast — taking the time to build a strong foundation leads to deeper, more meaningful progress. In the beginning, I follow a more structured process, while we build rapport, trust and security. I spend this time listening deeply and learning about you, your life, and your goals. Following that, our sessions will naturally become more flexible as we develop a stronger understanding of one another and settle into a more conversational flow.
We are a good fit if…
You’re someone who likes to be challenged, who is ready to grow, who wants to unlearn poor behaviours, or who needs a place to process trauma. Some issues I work with include: anxiety, addictions, alcohol/substance abuse, men’s and women’s issues, couple and family issues, stress, self-esteem issues, sex/pornography addiction and behavioural issues. If you’re seeking a space that avoids challenge or self-examination, I may not be the right therapist for you. My work involves thoughtful, supportive, and growth-focused guidance.
If you have any questions about whether we’d be a good fit, please feel free to email me at veronica@sowandgrowtherapy.com or book a free phone call consultation here.
Non-clinical things about me
It is hard to open up to someone you don’t know. So, outside of therapy, I’m someone who loves to dance and sing (though not particularly well), and I’ll never say no to dessert. My friends and family are my most precious gems, and I joke that I love my cat more (some days, it’s very believable).
I’m a big bookworm, a lover of laughter, and someone who will pull a light-hearted prank whenever the opportunity presents itself. If you ask my loved ones, they’ll tell you I rarely know the TV shows people reference. But, I stand firmly by one truth: you will never convince me that The Office is better than F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
